Special lecture on Mon, Aug 13

Bing Song, Vice Dean (International) from Cardiff University, UK, will be giving a special lecture on Monday, August 13. The talk entitled, Dental pulp stem cells potential for tissue engineering and repair, will take place in room 170 of 124 Edward Street from 11am to 12pm.

Special lecture on Wed, Aug 15

Professor Guohua Chen from the Department of Mechanical Engineering at the Hong Kong Polytechnic University will be giving a special lecture on Wednesday, August 15. The talk entitled, Building an artificial protective skin for emerging energy materials, will take place in BA2145 from 11am to 12pm.

Special lecture on Wed, Aug 29

Brian F. Pfleger, the Jay and Cynthia Ihlenfeld Professor from the University of Wisconsin-Madison's Department of Chemical and Biological Engineering, will be giving a special lecture on Wednesday, August 29. The talk entitled, Metabolic engineering strategies for producing oleochemicals in bacteria, will take place in WB407 from 10-11am.

CIFST call for volunteers

The Canadian Institute of Food Science & Technology (CIFST) is looking for volunteers for two events:

  • 45th Annual Golf Tournament on Wednesday, September 12 in Ajax, ON.
  • 30th Annual Suppliers' Night Tabletop Exhibition on Tuesday, November 6 in Mississauga, ON.

Both events are excellent opportunities for students to network with food industry professionals and learn more about the industry. Meals will be provided. If you are interested in helping out, please contact Sophia Walter for more info. She can be reached at swalter@powellmay.cbpowell.com.

Batter Up! Come join CEGSA at a Blue Jays game

Join CEGSA for the Blue Jays vs Orioles game on Tuesday, August 21 at 7pm. Tickets are only $15 for current graduate students, $20 for faculty and staff, and $25 for guests! The seats are in the 200 level! There are limited tickets available so sign-up fast! You can pick up your tickets from Sam or Mitchell in WB324. NOTE: If you buy a ticket and then do not attend the game with that ticket, you'll be expected to reimburse CEGSA for the remainder of the unsubsidized ticket value ($30).
