U of T Engineering receives over $11M in NSERC funding

IdeasCity Toronto: open call for ideas

Do you have an idea that will change Toronto? An idea that will foster connections, strengthen neighbourhood exchanges, reshape infrastructure, and diversify the city’s current landscape? If so, The Bentway and the New Museum invite you to pitch your ideas for the future city. If successful, you will present your pitch to a distinguished panel of judges at IdeasCity Toronto on Saturday, September 15 and will have the opportunity to run a coached crowdfunding campaign through Patronicity. Free conference opportunity

WorleyParsons, a global engineering company with customers in the hydrocarbon, nuclear and mining and minerals sectors, promotes and encourages careers for women in engineering. As part of this focus, the company is taking part in an event called “It’s Time We Act,” which celebrates women engineers and engineering graduates who have made an impact on industry. The CGEN Forum on Thu, Sep 6

The CGEN Forum: Envisioning the Future of Engineering for Global Development will take place on Thursday, September 6. The event will bring together participants from academia, industry and NGOs to learn about how students and faculty working with the Centre for Global Engineering are tackling pressing issues in global development. Brian F. Pfleger, the Jay and Cynthia Ihlenfeld Professor from the University of Wisconsin-Madison's Department of Chemical and Biological Engineering, will be giving a special lecture on Wednesday, August 29. The talk entitled, Metabolic engineering strategies for producing oleochemicals in bacteria, will take place in WB407 from 10-11am.

Batter Up! Come join CEGSA at a Blue Jays game

Join CEGSA for the Blue Jays vs Orioles game on Tuesday, August 21 at 7pm. Tickets are only $15 for current graduate students, $20 for faculty and staff, and $25 for guests! The seats are in the 200 level! There are limited tickets available so sign-up fast! You can pick up your tickets from Sam or Mitchell in WB324. NOTE: If you buy a ticket and then do not attend the game with that ticket, you'll be expected to reimburse CEGSA for the remainder of the unsubsidized ticket value ($30).

CIFST call for volunteers

The Canadian Institute of Food Science & Technology (CIFST) is looking for volunteers for two events:

  • 45th Annual Golf Tournament on Wednesday, September 12 in Ajax, ON.
  • 30th Annual Suppliers' Night Tabletop Exhibition on Tuesday, November 6 in Mississauga, ON.
