Olev Trass celebrating 60 years at ChemE!

New NSERC Industrial Research Chair leverages nanotechnology to enhance health care

Professor Frank Gu and his team use nanoparticles to address challenges in medicine, such as diagnosing infectious diseases and treating chronic eye conditions. Prof. Gu was recently appointed the NSERC Senior Industrial Research Chair (IRC) in Nanotechnology Engineering. The new collaboration will apply cutting-edge nanotechnology to the next generation of medical devices and techniques. Learn more.

Are you ready to Map the System?

Map the System is a global competition that challenges students to analyze issues of social or environmental change. There will be a U of T Final on Wednesday, April 10, where teams will present their research to the public and a local winner will advance to the Canadian Final running from Friday, May 3 to Saturday, May 4. Two winners of the Canadian Final will receive a $2,500 CASH PRIZE per team and a FREE TRIP to the Map the System Global Final running from Friday, June 7 to Sunday, June 9 at the University of Oxford, UK. The deadline to apply is Monday, January 28. Learn more!

Remembering Frances Silverman

It is with deep sadness that we share the news of the sudden passing of Dr. Frances Silverman who was a good friend, colleague, researcher, founding member of SOCAAR and a mentor to many. Dr. Silverman will be greatly missed.
