Another successful year for our students at the CSChE Conference

ChemE students came away with multiple awards at the 2016 CSChE Conference, including second place in the 2016 Minerva-CIAC Responsible Care case study competition and first place in the Robert G. Auld Student Paper Competition. Our student chapter of CSChE also won honourable mention for its involvement and creativity in student life. Read full story.

Special talk for third- and fourth-year students

General Motors of Canada will be visiting U of T Engineering on Tuesday, November 15. The main objective of the visit is to engage with our third- and fourth-year students. Steve Carlisle, GM of Canada President and Managing Director, will be giving a talk commencing at 1pm entitled, Automotive Innovation: It’s not your parents’ auto industry anymore. This talk will be followed by an overview of GM’s impressive recruitment plans over the coming years and will include a Q&A session with students. A light lunch will be offered. Invitations will be sent out to students early next week. Professors and TAs, please encourage your students to attend, as GM is looking to recruit over 700 engineers over the next 2-3 years.

REMINDER: Science Leadership Program deadline on Mon, Oct 31

The Science Leadership Program (SLP) is "an amazing and transformational" 2+ day workshop designed to give faculty members the tools to effectively engage policymakers, the media, decision-makers, and the general public about their research. The workshop is directed by Molly Shoichet, Senior Advisor on Science and Engineering Engagement to President Gertler, University of Toronto, and is funded by Connaught Fund. It begins with a reception at 4:30pm on Wednesday, April 19, 2017 and ends with a group dinner on Friday, April 21, 2017. The Science Leadership Program is seeking academic scientists, engineers, and social scientists from U of T and other research-intensive Canadian universities to submit their application for consideration by Monday, October 31.
