U of T's Molly Shoichet racks up the prizes

Molly ShoichetUniversity Professor Molly Shoichet was featured in NOW Magazine's online site today regarding the numerous awards she's been winning. Molly recently won the 2016 Till & McCulloch Award, which recognizes Canadian stem cell researchers, for her studies related to the use of hydrogels for stem cell transplantation. Third-year ChemE student places first at CSChE Conference

Earlier this week, Ziyu Bao (ChemE 1T8) from Cathy Chin's lab presented at the Robert G. Auld Student Paper Competition during the CSChE Conference in Quebec City and won first prize. His oral presentation was entitled, Kinetic study of naphthalene hydrogenation on Pt catalyst.

CEGSA's Halloween Pub Night on Fri, Oct 28

Join CEGSA on Friday, October 28 for some Halloween fun. Festivities begin at 5pm in the Grad Common Room and include pumpkin carving, refreshments, games and a costume contest. Pub night at O'Grady to follow at 8pm.

Special talk on Thu, Oct 27

James Bateman, creator of MedChart, will be giving a talk on Thursday, October 27 from 5-6pm in SF1105. He will discuss how he started his company while obtaining a Master’s at the University of Toronto. His story will recount his journey from identifying a solution to a simple problem to raising $1M and building a viable business. He will discuss serial entrepreneurship, his experience trying to find the right idea and the right team, and leveraging the rich University of Toronto and Toronto start-up scene to launch your idea. This talk is followed by an informal dinner with the speakers in SFB 560. Please RSVP at http://bit.ly/1oh0snt if you wish to attend the dinner. You do not need to RSVP to attend the talk.
