ChemE undergrad wins two prizes at UnERD 2016
On August 9, Onasvi Kharsikar (1T8) won two medals at the 2016 Undergraduate Engineering Research Day (UnERD). This annual one-day research conference held at the University of Toronto is hosted by students from the Faculty of Applied Science & Engineering and gives summer research-students the opportunity to share their research achievements in an academic showcase.
Kharsikar, a summer research-student in Professor Grant Allen‘s Bioprocess Engineering Lab supervised by Dr. Yaldah Azimi (MASc 0T8, PhD 1T3), won first place in the Chemical Engineering Poster Competition for her poster – The Influence of Pulsation on Algal Biofilm Growth on Light-Leaking Waveguides – co-authored by Allen, Azimi and Professor Stewart Aitchison (ECE). Kharsikar also won third place in the overall category.
UnERD ultimately aims to encourage and celebrate the engineering undergraduate community’s aspirations in scientific and design research.
