ChemE Welcomes Two New Faculty Members
The Department of Chemical Engineering & Applied Chemistry is pleased to welcome two new faculty members who joined the department as Assistant Professors on August 1, 2014.
Dr. Gisele Azimi (left) and Dr. Elodie Passeport (right).
Dr. Gisele Azimi is an expert in hydrometallurgy, electrochemical processes and advanced materials, and holds a joint appointment between the Departments of Chemical Engineering & Applied Chemistry and Materials Science & Engineering. Her research interests include the extraction and processing of rare earth elements, treatment of mineral processing waste, and advanced materials development.
Dr. Elodie Passeporte brings a multidisciplinary background in hydrology, chemical engineering and environmental engineering to her research on pollutants in natural and engineered aquatic systems. She is jointly appointed between the Departments of Civil Engineering and Chemical Engineering & Applied Chemistry. Her work involves ecological engineering practices and stable isotope analysis, and is an excellent complement to the Department’s research on bioremediation and the development of sustainable and environmentally sound technologies.

U of T Administrative Staff Awards - Call for Nominations
Every year, U of T recognizes administrative staff who have made outstanding contributions toward advancing the University's strategic objectives with the Excellence Through Innovation Award (ETIA). The call for nominations is now open, with a deadline of Wednesday, Sept 24, 2014. This year the awards include new criteria and focus areas.
