ChemE students win CSA Academic Challenge

Katie Dritsas, Andrew Kostruba, Kayla Musalem and Kenny Wei – all recent ChemE grads – were awarded first place in the 2017 CSA Academic Challenge. The competition engages students in the world of standards, as well as highlights the benefits, challenges and opportunities of their application in the workplace and in everyday life. Read more.

Levente Diosady inducted into U of T’s Sports Hall of Fame

Last week, Professor Levente Diosady along with his former swim teammates were inducted into U of T’s Sports Hall of Fame. Professor Diosady swam as a member of the team during both his undergraduate and graduate education in Chemical Engineering. In addition to swimming, Professor Diosady also managed the team and went on to manage six other U of T Varsity Blues swim teams.

Postdoc opportunity at Karlstad University

Karlstad University is looking to fill a postdoctoral researcher position with a focus on surface modification of 3D packaging. To be eligible for the position, applicants are required to hold a PhD in Chemical Engineering, Material Science, Polymer Technology, Paper Technology or Physical Chemistry or another relevant area. The candidate must have completed the degree no more than three years before the last date for applications, unless special ground exists. Safety reminder

With warmer weather finally here, please be mindful of the following safety policies:

  • Shorts/skirts/dresses may not be worn in any chemical laboratory, as
    they provide no protection to your legs in the event of a chemical spill.
  • Slacks/pants provide the best protection below where the lab coat ends.
  • Open toe shoes or sandals may not be worn in laboratories.
  • Roller blades may not be worn in any University building.
  • Bikes not allowed in multi-occupant offices and labs.
