Celebrating long-term service

On Tuesday, May 24, four members for our ChemE community were recognized for their long-term commitment to U of T and our Department. Chris Ambidge celebrated 35 years with U of T, Arlene Smith 40 years, and Vlad Papangelakis and Dan Tomchyshyn 25 years each. Please help us congratulate and thank them for their achievements and contributions.

Simple attraction: U of T Engineering researchers control protein release from nanoparticles without encapsulation

Jaclyn Obermeyer, Malgosia Pakulska and Irja Elliott Donaghue, supervised by University Professor Molly Shoichet, are the first to show controlled release of proteins without encapsulating them in nanoparticles. Read full story.

ChemE alumna honoured by Engineers Canada

Marisa Sterling (ChemE 9T1) was recently celebrated by Engineers Canada for demonstrating remarkable leadership in her community. At the Engineers Canada Awards Gala in Charlottetown, P.E.I., on Thursday, May 26, Canada’s engineering profession honoured Sterling with the Meritorious Service Award for Community Service. The organization recognized the achievements of eight other engineers, teams of engineers, engineering projects and engineering students across Canada. Read full story.

CEGSA is pleased to announce that its annual Semi-Formal event will be on Friday, June 10. The evening features a cocktail reception, dinner and dance (no skills required)! IWI Inaugural Industry-Academic Workshop

The Institute for Water Innovation (IWI) invites you to participate on Friday, June 17 in its inaugural Industry – Academic Workshop on Addressing Water Challenges in the Natural Resource Industries.
