Welcome Jack McGrath
This week Jack McGrath joined our student services team, as the Teaching Assistantship Administrator and Undergraduate Assistant. Pior to joining our Department, Jack worked at New College where he also completed his undergraduate degree. When you get a chance, feel free to stop by WB216 to help welcome Jack onboard.
Alumna Claire Kennedy elected chair of Governing Council
Claire Kennedy (ChemE 8T9) has been elected chair of the University of Toronto’s Governing Council, which oversees the academic, business and student affairs of the University. Her term as chair begins July 1, 2017. She succeeds the current chair, Shirley Hoy. Read full story.
One small step for man, one giant leap for these U of T Engineering students
U of T Engineering students, including ChemE fourth-year students Haroon Dawood, Stephanie Gaglione, Jason Martins and Madhusan Perera, recently completed a project that was out of this world, in more ways than one. With help from their supervisor Professor Cathy Chin, and advisors at NASA, the students came up with a way to make organic products like food, pharmaceuticals and fuel using elements of the Martian atmosphere. How can we combat fake science? How can we bring cutting-edge technology to low-resource populations? How can we use the Internet for good? Discover the answers to these questions and more at this free event. The list of speakers includes our very own Prof. Molly Shoichet.
