ChemE students earn 2017 Minerva Canada James Ham Safe Design award

The Minerva Canada James Ham Safe Design competition challenges engineering undergraduate students from across Canada to make an original contribution toward integrating safety into engineering design. Students are asked to suggest ways to improve the existing design of devices, processes or systems, envision new, innovative designs that will eliminate or reduce potential hazards, and create tools to help manufacturers and workplaces integrate safety into new or retrofit designs. Alumnus wins APEGA Community Service Award

tracey stockTracey Stock (ChemE 8T2) was honoured by the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Alberta (APEGA) at the 2017 Summit Awards. Stock received the Community Service Award for contributions to society. He has given more than 100,000 hours of volunteer service to various non-profit organizations in the past 43 years in addition to making 625 blood, plasma, and platelet donations to Canadian Blood Services. Click here for a video about his service.

Mark your calendar for the following CEGSA events (including one today):

  • Fika Friday ft. CEGSA co-chair plaque presentation (open to everyone) - the Department would like to honour our 2016-17 and 2015-16 CEGSA co-chairs with special plaques in recognition for all their hard work. The presentation starts at 2:30pm in the Grad Common Room TODAY.
  • CEGSA Spring Formal (open to everyone) - Friday, June 2 at Hart House. The evening includes cocktails, buffet dinner, open bar and lots of dancing.
