Spring Convocation 2014

The Department of Chemical Engineering and Applied Chemistry will celebrate the convocation of our graduate and undergraduate students in the morning of Wednesday, June 18. Faculty and staff are invited to participate in the following events to mark this special occasion:

  • Academic Procession (Gathers at 9:30 am)
    Location: Council Chamber, Simcoe Hall, 27 King’s College Road
  • Convocation Ceremony (10:00 am – 12:00 pm)
    Location: Convocation Hall, 27 King’s College Circle
  • ChemE Reception & Chair's Remarks (12:00 pm – 12:40 pm)
    Location: Sir Howard Ferguson Dining Hall, University College, 75 St. George St.
  • FASE Reception (12:00 pm - 2:00 pm)
    Location: Hart House Quad, 7 Hart House Circle

To participate in the Academic Procession:

  1. Staff and faculty must wear academic robes to participate; the Department will rent robes and hoods on your behalf. Please complete the hood and gown rental form by Tuesday, May 20. After that date, it will be your individual responsibility to obtain the proper attire.
  2. You must also register online for the academic procession by Tuesday, May 20.

2014 Student Life Catalyst Awards - Call for Nominations

The Department of Chemical Engineering and Applied Chemistry is now accepting nominations for the Student Life Catalyst Awards, sponsored by the Department's faculty and staff. Nominations can be made by any member of the Chemical Engineering community - students, faculty, staff and alumni. To be eligible, the nominee must be eligible to graduate at spring convocation (spring or fall for graduate students). For more information on the awards and the nomination and selection process, visit the instructions page.

The application deadline is Friday May 23, 2014 at noon in the Chair's Office (WB221).

CEGSA Semi-Formal: Tickets Now On Sale!

Students, Staff and Faculty are cordially invited to attend CEGSA's 3rd Annual Semi-Formal on Friday, June 6, 2014. Come eat and dance the night away in the Music Room & Debate Room at the Hart House starting at 6 pm. Tickets are on sale in the Graduate Common Room during FIKA (2:30 - 3:30 pm, WB 247). The the first 25 tickets will be $55, after which the price goes up to $60. Don't delay as the number of tickets will be capped at 65! If you are unable to purchase your ticket during FIKA, please email cegsa.chemeng@utoronto.ca to coordinate another time.

Come celebrate the year and summer and enjoy a fabulous night with colleagues and friends!

Help Raise Money to Conquer Cancer

PhD Student Peter Schnurr is doing the Ride to Conquer Cancer, a 200km+ bike ride from
Toronto to Niagara Falls, to raise funds for cancer research on June 7-8. Help Peter raise $2,500
