Safety training

The safety training for 2016 summer students are as follows:

Part II: On-line, to be completed prior to the in-person exam

Part III: In-person examination, Monday, May 09, WB116, 9-9:30am

As per University and Departmental guidelines, we are required to provide training to all personnel. If you have hired a summer student, please inform them of the date, location and time of the training program. It would be helpful if you could provide names of any summer students to Leticia Gutierrez through email for attendance and handout purposes. She can be reached at leticia.gutierrez@utoronto.ca

Students from our Department who have completed their fourth year AND ARE CONTINUING INTO GRADUATE SCHOOL in our Department do not have to attend this training session (their training for fourth-year thesis will suffice). However, they will need to attend CHE2222F in September 2016.

The training is compulsory for all other summer students/personnel, including those in volunteer positions and on co-op placements.

Outreach opportunity

The Toronto District School Board (TDSB) is hosting Rethink the Box on Wednesday, May 11. This outreach program encourages kids across Toronto to think like engineers and solve real-world problems. In teams, participants are given a challenge and a box of items to use for the challenge. The job of volunteers is to help participants work through their ideas and turn them into reality. The event runs from from 9am to 2pm at Don Mills Collegiate Institute. Anyone interested in helping out as a volunteer should email cheryl.washer@mail.utoronto.ca as soon as possible.
