He has served as chair of first year, overseeing the first-year curriculum for over 1,000 students, and as vice-dean, undergraduate, providing overall direction to the undergraduate curriculum and student experience. He is also the co-founder of the Faculty's Leaders of Tomorrow program, and serves as associate director of the Institute for Leadership Education in Engineering. Read more about Prof. Evans' many contributions and see photos of the awards ceremony.

Smooth-talking Graduate Students

Congratulations to Naomi Zimmerman who is this year’s winner of the CHE2011 Graduate Research Seminar Competition. Naomi will received a $100 gift card that was generously donated by the Engineering Communication Program. The other finalists were Suraj Persaud, Miki Young, and Ben Slater. To watch videos of the five minute seminars by the four finalists, click on their names above. They are all great seminars that achieved the underlying goal of producing engaging presentations that are well delivered and accessible to a broad audience. Congratulations to all!

2014 Student Life Catalyst Awards - Call for Nominations

The Department of Chemical Engineering and Applied Chemistry is now accepting nominations for the Student Life Catalyst Awards, sponsored by the Department's faculty and staff. These awards seek to annually recognize one undergraduate student and one graduate student prior to his or her convocation for their significant contributions to the life of the Department. Such contributions include undertaking formal leadership positions, initiating new programs or activities, providing significant support to existing activities and/or providing a positive example to which current and future students should aspire.

Nominations can be made by any member of the Chemical Engineering community - students, faculty, staff and alumni. To be eligible, the nominee must be eligible to graduate at spring convocation (spring or fall for graduate students). For more information on the awards and the nomination and selection process, visit the instructions page.

The application deadline is Friday May 23, 2013 at noon in the Chair's Office (WB221).
