Alumna wins prestigious community service award

Engineers Canada has announced this year’s nine winners of the annual Engineers Canada Awards. Marisa Sterling (9T1) is the 2016 recipient of the Meritorious Service Award for Community Service. Sponsored by TD, Manulife, Great-West Life and ENCON Group Inc., the Engineers Canada Awards recognize engineering excellence and the winners’ outstanding contributions to their community, profession and to the safety and well-being of Canadians.

Using tree bark to treat anaemia

Oluwasegun Modupe, a PhD student supervised by Professor Levente Diosady, recently co-published a paper entitled, Optimizing dose of aqueous extract of Mangifera indica L stem bark for treating anaemia and its effect on some disaccharidases activity in iron deficient weanling rats, in the Journal of Nutrition & Intermediary Metabolism, Volume 3, March 2016, Pages 18-22, ISSN 2352-3859.

Reminder: Mark your calendars for GRD/IOH 2017

The date for GRD/IOH 2017 has been set for Friday, February 24, 2017. This year, 27 professors attended GRD/IOH 2016 and 75 grad students participate as volunteers. Let's beat these numbers for next year!
