Molly Shoichet named a Distinguished Woman in Chemistry or Chemical Engineering
University Professor Molly Shoichet (ChemE, IBBME) has been named a 2019 Distinguished Woman in Chemistry or Chemical Engineering by the International Union of Pure and Applied Chemistry (IUPAC). The recipients were announced on Monday, February 11 to mark the International Day of Women and Girls in Science. Read more.
Made-in-Canada lab-grown meat one step closer with funding for ChemE researchers
A group of ChemE researchers, led by BioZone’s Peter Stogios, will soon attempt to develop a less-expensive way to grow lab-made meat after securing a grant from an American non-profit aiming to boost advances in cultured protein. Read more.
2019 IDERD Conference
Registration for U of T’s 2019 International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination (IDERD) Conference, hosted at Hart House, is now open. IDERD is observed annually on March 21 (which lands on a Thursday this year). The United Nations proclaimed this day in 1966 to honour the 69 lives lost at a peaceful demonstration against the apartheid “pass laws” in Sharpeville, South Africa, in 1960. Western Michigan University faculty positions
The Chemical and Paper Engineering Department at Western Michigan University is inviting applications for a tenure-track faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor and another tenure-track position at the rank of Associate or Assistant Professor with a start date of Thursday, August 15. CSA Group Academic Challenge
Please encourage your students to participate in the CSA Group Academic Challenge to share their forward-looking ideas and competitive proposals about industry practices and issues that are influenced by standards. Finalists get to attend the CSA Group Annual Conference to present their projects to members of industry. Teams need to be have a project supervisor so if you know of a great group of students who you’d like to work with on this competition, please approach them. The deadline to submit intent to participate is Monday, April 1. The submission deadline is Wednesday, May 1. More information can be found here.

His talk is part of ECE’s Engineering Entrepreneurship Series. If you’d like to attend the informal dinner after the talk in SFB560, please rsvp here.
