Demolition of AHU2 is progressing well, and will continue tomorrow. Our new AHU1 was lifted to the roof yesterday.

Help our students out with Graditude on Tue, Feb 27

The Professor-Student Mixer originally scheduled for Monday, February 12 is now going to be held on Tuesday, February 27 from 5-7pm in the undergraduate common room.

PROFSSORS, this event will be raising funds for Graditude 2018 through triva matches. Students need to pay-to-play. This event can only happen if enough professors register. If you're interested in attending, email csche@skule.ca as soon as possible.

PhD opportunities at TU Graz

Graz University of Technology (Austria) has two PhD opportunities spanning three years starting in summer 2018. The deadline to apply is Sunday, March 11. For details, click on the links below:

Trojan Technologies looking to hire a grad student

Trojan Technologies is looking for a graduate student for a four month MITACS project, Control/sequestration of sulfide in the sewer line. Interested student will be involved in lab/bench tests but not limited to:

• Preparation and characterization of Fe(II) solution/slurry using commercially available reagents,
• Investigate the effect of reagent pH on the final product,
• Characterize the above product,
• Use the product to control/sequester sulfide in primary effluent,
• Compare the efficacy and efficiency of the product with commercially available Fe(II).

MSc and PhD opportunities

The Hydrometallurgy and Environment Group at Queen’s University has several immediate positions for Ph.D. and Master’s students. Sponsored by the largest Canadian and International Mining Companies, the research projects will focus on the bacterial extraction of gold from gold ores, as well as design and engineering of novel reagents for gold extraction. The projects are interdisciplinary as those include the chemical and electrochemical processing, bioreaction studies, kinetics and thermodynamics studies, etc. Positions to start May or September 2018. Genomic Applications Partnership Program (GAPP)

Ontario Genomics is pleased to announce that two new rounds of Genome Canada’s Genomic Applications Partnership Program (GAPP) are now open. The GAPP funds public-private research collaborations focused on developing genomics-derived technologies that address opportunities and challenges identified by industry, government, not-for-profits or other “Receptors” of genomics knowledge and tools. The program provides a unique opportunity for Receptor organizations to collaborate with an ’omics researcher, and to leverage their R&D investments with public funding.
