Michael Sefton Wins the 2016 Terumo Global Science Prize

University of Toronto engineering professor Michael Sefton (ChemE, IBBME) has been named the 2016 recipient of the Terumo Global Science Prize for his achievements in tissue engineering and novel biomaterials discovery. Read more.

CCRM Receives $20M in Funding

This week, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau visited Michael May (9T1, PhD 9T8), President and CEO of the Centre for Commercialization of Regenerative Medicine (CCRM). During the visit, Prime Minister Trudeau announced $20 million in funding support for CCRM to scale-up engineering. ChemE Grad Student Leads U of T Chess Team

Sowjanya Sowrirajan, a MEng student from our Department, had the opportunity to captain the U of T Chess Team in the Pan-American Intercollegiate Chess Championship in 2015. Last weekend, Sowrirajan got another chance to lead the U of T team in the 2016 Canadian University Chess Championship. Click here, to find out how she and her team placed.

Science and Leadership Program - Call for Applications

The Science and Leadership Program is seeking applications from outstanding academic scientists, engineers, and social scientists from U of T and other research-intensive Canadian universities for this “amazing and transformational” 2+ day workshop designed to give faculty members the tools they need to be better communicators and more effective leaders, both on and off campus. The workshop begins with a reception at 4pm on April 13, 2016 and ends with a group dinner on April 15. Click here for the application form and additional information.
