Diamond Milestone for ChemE Professor
During a ceremony at Roy Thomson Hall on February 6, 2013, Molly Shoichet, Professor in the Department of Chemical Engineering & Applied Chemistry and at the Institute of Biomaterials and Biomedical Engineering (IBBME), will be awarded the Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal, an award that marks the Queen's 60 th year of reign.   • For M.Eng. students: If you have finished your program in Fall 2012 and request June 2013 convocation or March 2013 degree certificate by mail, submit an email to Pauline Martini at grad.chemeng@utoronto.ca to review your file as soon as possible. January 25: Students completing a project need to complete the Oral defense and confirmation of final corrections to the project.
  • For M.A.Sc. students: If you complete your program in Fall 2012 and request June 2013 convocation or March 2013 degree certificate by mail. January 25: Deadline for your supervisor to submit confirmation that your final thesis corrections are made.

You are invited to the first Engineering Entrepreneurship Series talk of 2013. If you've ever thought about starting your own company, this series is for you!

Outline: Ray Sharma offers a unique perspective on the evolution of the app economy. Ray is the founder and CEO of XMG Studio Ind, the largest independent mobile game studio in Canada. Critically acclaimed XMG hit titles with multi-million unique installs for iOS/Android include Cows vs.
Aliens, Marine Sharpshooter, Drag Racer and Style Studio.

Bio: Ray Sharma offers a unique perspective on the evolution of the app economy. Ray is founder and CEO of XMG Studio Inc., the largest independent mobile games studio in Canada. Critically acclaimed XMG hit titles with multi-million unique installs for iOS/Android include Cows vs Aliens, Marine Sharpshooter, Drag Racer and Style Studio. Prior to XMG, Ray was part of Xtreme Labs, presently one of the world’s largest app developers, where he previously held the position of Chairman of the board. Prior to Ray’s entrepreneurial experience he spent 10 years on Bay/Wall Street within investment banking research. In 2001 Ray held a title that represented his views of the future - Vice President, Mobile Internet Devices and Applications at CSFB Technology Group based in San Francisco. Ray’s vision that the mobile device represented the next evolutionary wave of computing had significant influence in becoming the top-ranked analyst in his field for 5 of 8 eligible years based on Greenwich and Brendan Woods International survey of fund managers.
